ABOUT THE AREA | Located in the “heart” or center of North Carolina, Randolph County includes Archdale, Asheboro, Franklinville, Liberty, Ramseur, Randleman, Seagrove, Staley, and Trinity. “It is said of Randolph that it is one county where every road is a scenic highway. Every mile has its view. This combination of woods, of numerous streams, rolling hills swelling into mountain knobs and ridges, all interspersed by occasional wide open lands or “savannahs,” as Lawson called the prairies, makes Randolph an exceedingly attractive section,” said Our State magazine editor Bill Sharpe in 1958.

Weather
• The area is marked by four beautiful seasons with fall typically a time of vibrant color and winter scattered with a few light snowfalls. The average high temperature is 88 degrees Fahrenheit and the low is 30.

Transportation
• Centrally located along the Eastern U.S. Seaboard, Randolph County is one of the state's best-located and most accessible counties. Three Interstate highways, Interstate 85 and newly designated Interstates 73 and 74, transverse the County. Interstates 73 and 74 will junction in the center of the County and provide access to the Upper Midwest and the South Carolina ports. Other four-lane highways include US 421, US 64, US 311, US 220, and along with two and four-lane state highways, provide both access and an easy daily commute throughout the area.
• Three major international airports - Piedmont Triad, Raleigh-Durham, and Charlotte-Douglas - are within a one to two hours’ drive.

MUSEUMS & ATTRACTIONS | Find what’s in your heart by exploring an assortment of museums and attractions unequal to any other area of North Carolina! From the internationally acclaimed North Carolina Zoo to the largest private collection of Harley-Davidson® motorcycles in the country at American Classic Motorcycle Museum; a plane flown by Orville Wright at the N.C. Aviation Museum & Hall of Fame; Seagrove, the handmade pottery capital of the U.S.; and Linbrook Heritage Estate, home of Linbrook Hall, one of the largest privately owned homes in the Southeast.

FESTIVALS & EVENTS | A number of local communities celebrate their heritage by hosting a variety of annual festivals and events. Christmas on Sunset, in downtown Asheboro, the Bush Hill Heritage Festival in Archdale, and the Seagrove Pottery Festival have all been chosen as a Top 20 Event in the Southeast by the Southeast Tourism Society. The Asheboro Fall Festival remains a popular annual event, along with the spring and fall Liberty Antiques Festivals, voted the Best Antiques Show in the Mid-Atlantic Region.

ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT | If you love live entertainment, catch a summer concert at Bicentennial Park or Ramseur Lake. The Heart of North Carolina is also home to an array of intimate galleries featuring exhibits of arts and crafts created by local and regional artisans.

GOLF | Play some of the area’s most beautiful golf courses including Tot Hill Farm, the only 4.5 star rated course in the Piedmont Triad and 7th Hardest Course in America as featured in Golf Digest; and Asheboro Municipal, a nine-hole public course designed by the famed Donald Ross in 1935 – all located within an hour’s drive from Pinehurst, home of some of America’s finest golf courses.

SPORTS & RACING | Our area is home to semi-professional sports, and various recreational tournaments including the Bank of the Carolina’s JV Holiday Classic, now the largest JV basketball tournament in the U.S., the John Blewett III Memorial North-South Shootout at Caraway Speedway, and the 2013 & 14 American Legion Baseball Southeast Regional Tournament.
